This policy is a working draft for the closed beta. It will be reviewed against GDPR, POPIA (South Africa), NDPR (Nigeria), and Kenya's Data Protection Act before public launch. Contact us if you have questions about your data.
What we collect
Account: email, password hash, sign-in provider.
Profile: name, date of birth, city, country, intent, bio, prompts.
Media: photos and optional voice intro you upload.
Activity: swipes, matches, messages, reports you file.
Device and diagnostics: IP address, browser, crash logs.
How we use it
To operate the service, show you compatible members, prevent abuse, send transactional emails (welcome, deletion receipts, security alerts), and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your data and we do not run third-party advertising trackers.
Who can see your profile
By default, other beta members can see your profile. You can restrict visibility to matches only, turn on Ghost Mode to browse invisibly, or enable Identity Shield to hide from cross-user reads. Photos are only accessible via short-lived signed URLs.
Where your data is stored
Personal data is stored on our managed backend infrastructure in African and EU regions. Backups are encrypted at rest. Access is restricted to Polymeet operations personnel.
Subprocessors
Supabase — database, storage, authentication.
Cloudflare — edge hosting and CDN.
Resend — transactional email delivery.
Google — optional single sign-on.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time from Settings. To exercise any right under GDPR, POPIA, NDPR, or the Kenya DPA, email privacy@polymeet.co. We respond within 30 days.
Retention
Profile and activity data are kept while your account is active. On deletion, media is removed immediately and profile data within 7 days. Backups roll off within 30 days. We may retain minimal records to comply with legal, safety, and financial obligations.
Children
Polymeet is strictly 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. Report suspected underage accounts using the in-app report flow or email safety@polymeet.co.
